The Altitude development consists of two residential blocks, with a commercial unit at the ground floor, located on a primary road linking Bournemouth and Poole. The external facades were made up of render, zinc cladding and timber decked balconies, which needed replacing due to fire safety concerns and was funded by the Building Safety Fund.
Bennington Green are appointed to undertake the roles of Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Principal Designer and Clerk of Works for the removal of all combustible materials and replacement with non-combustible alternatives that match the aesthetic of the original design. The project brief was to take the existing information and to investigate, design and build new facades to achieve at least an EWS1 B1 sign off. We complied the tender enquiry and following a thorough examination of tender returns are in the process of appointing the successful Contractor. A sensitive and timely approach was needed, as many of the residential blocks remained occupied throughout the works.
